Workers' compensation is regulated by state law in Missouri. In Missouri, any business employing more than five workers is required to carry workers' compensation coverage. Companies in the construction industry must carry workers' compensation insurance if they erect, demolish, alter or repair improvements and have one or more employees. Workers' compensation benefits are free of cost to employees.
