Workers' Compensation
Workers' compensation is regulated by state law in Missouri. It exists to compensate employees for medical treatment and lost wages occurring as a result of an injury, a job-related disease, a disability acquired over time, or a wrongful death that is sustained through an accident in the workplace or caused by working conditions. In Missouri, any business employing more than five workers is required to carry workers' compensation coverage. Companies in the construction industry must carry workers' compensation insurance if they erect, demolish, alter or repair improvements and have one or more employees. Workers' compensation benefits are free of cost to employees.
When a workers' compensation claim is delayed, denied or under dispute by an employer, a personal injury attorney experienced in dealing with workers' compensation claims can investigate the claim. Your attorney will inform you of the status of the claim and advise appropriate legal action. While most claims can be resolved through a negotiated settlement, when needed, our attorneys at Hullverson law are prepared to take cases to trial so clients receive the workers' compensation benefits to which they are entitled by law.
