Wrongful Death
A wrongful death lawsuit is a legal action brought by the relatives of someone who was injured and died through the fault of another. The wrongful act resulting in death may be through negligence or an intentional act. While criminal charges may be brought against the wrongdoer if the act was intentional or criminally negligent, a wrongful death suit is a civil action brought by the surviving family. Surviving family may include a spouse, children, siblings or parents. A wrongful death suit is filed to recover damages for financial expenses and emotional loss. Funeral expenses, lost wages, lost future income; medical, hospital and nursing care costs; in addition to estate administration fees and other financial burdens that the family would not have otherwise experienced may all be included in a wrongful death claim.
Legal guidelines must be followed regarding which relative should file the wrongful death suit, and our attorneys at the Hullverson Law Firm have extensive experience in filing and representing families in their claim. We are skilled in negotiating fair settlements and taking cases to trial when needed to receive just compensation.
