Risk of burn injuries prompts recall of children's pajamas

There are many things that St. Louis, Missouri, parents need to be aware of where their children are involved. One thing that many probably don’t spend much time thinking about is how safe their pajamas are. As it turns out, if not treated properly during manufacturing, a child’s pajamas could put them at risk for burn injuries

In an effort to reduce the severity of burns that could occur if children are involved in a fire while sleeping or otherwise wearing their pajamas, the federal government has created flammability standards that sleepwear worn by children must meet. When they do not meet those standards the articles may be the subject of a recall. Recently pajamas manufactured by BedHead and sold throughout the nation, were recalled for this very thing. The company sold pajamas fitting a wide range of sizes, from toddler to youth.

Burn injuries are often very serious and require a long period of recovery. In addition to the pain and suffering experienced while healing, even once healed permanent scarring may remain for the rest of a person’s life. For many, particularly children, this is a difficult reality to face.

In addition to the emotional and physical pain that a burn can cause, treating it usually results in great expense. This expense can seriously set a family back financially. In situations where the burn injury is the result of negligence on the part of someone else, it is possible that compensation for the financial expense could be sought via a lawsuit against that party.
